I still cant believe the incredible Community and Space we have developed over these last 4 years. We have worked our butts off to bring Newcastle a Movement Space that is for high level students and those just starting their journeys.

I love the vibe and playful approach that we have cultivated, allowing everyone to upgrade their skills, strength and mobility. This will really allow you to discover what you are capable of.

Angela Cooper Movement/dance teacher

Angela's passion for movement began at the early age of 5 when she started to learn dance.

She has since completed all of her Advanced 2 Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz/contemporary and National Character examinations with the British Ballet Organisation.

Angela began teaching all styles of dance at the age of 16.

At the age of 18 she started her professional dancing career. She travelled overseas and worked for Carnival Cruise Lines for 7 years.

Expect Rhythm, Dance and mobility elements in any of Anglea’s classes.

Jeni Therese  - Movement/YOga Teacher


 Jeni began training with The Movement Collective in 2015 and has been a teacher at TMC 2017. Before training in “Movement” Jeni was a pole fitness instructor and in 2018 obtained her yoga teacher certificate.

Jeni Loves many different modalities of movement including handbalancing, yoga, gymnastics rings and acrobatics. She has more recently started learning to surf and taking Brazillian Jiu Jitsu classes.

Jeni is passionate about teaching and believes in the importance of creating a balanced life, mind body and soul. She believes in the importance of connection to the self, to others and to the environment.

Warren Van Der Vlugt

Movement Teacher + Physiotherapist


I have been interested in movement my whole life without really knowing it.

Growing up, I played a variety of sports and have spent plenty of time in the gym. After I finished high school I trained to become a Physiotherapist, learning a great deal about the human body, biomechanics and rehabilitation.

I began training at TMC since its inception and immediately fell in love the concepts and lifestyle that comes along with it. I have been teaching regularly since early 2017 and find it a very rewarding watching the members progress down the same path I have been on myself.

Damien Cooper

Movement Teacher + Osteopath




Justin lives all things health and athletic performance, with a diverse athletic career from playing rugby league with the Newcastle knights and west tigers, to a national level sprinter and touch player. Turning his attention to study in these areas he moved into exercise and sports science at university before studying podiatry where he now focuses his career towards seeing complex lower limb injuries and biomechanics both in a private practise sports medicine clinic as well as lecturing and teaching in this field at the university of Newcastle.

Justin is also a qualified crossfit coach with a wealth of competitive experience and Olympic weightlifting. 

He has been with the movement collective since its origins and is passionate about our holistic approach and philosophy.

Shaun Wood Parkour + Movement Teacher


Shaun is one of the longest practicing athletes in the Australian Parkour scene with over 15 years of training under his belt.

He is a founding member of one of the biggest Parkour companies in the world “Team Farang” and a participant in season 3 of Australian Ninja warrior. If you want to learn how to flip, this is your man. 

His classes are pretty intense, focused around lower body agility and strength.

Rachel Gaynor - Weightlifting Teacher + Massage Therapist


Rachel is a qualified Yin Yang Yoga Teacher and Remedial Massage Therapist. She has completed 3 years of study within physiotherapy, has obtained a bachelor of health and has been coaching CrossFit for 5 years. Rachel loves olympic weight lifting, crossfit, barefooting, motorcross enduro and martial arts.

 After practicing yoga for about 3 years and investing much time in studying  yogic philosophy and breathwork, I decided to do my 200hr Yoga Teacher training so I could then go on to share my passions for articulation, connection, flow and breathwork with others. I am also a Reiki practitioner and an artist! 

 I truly believe that through feeling comes healing. I enjoy facilitating a safe space for mindfulness, authentic expression, compassion for self and others, playfulness and building strength through softness. I love teaching at TMC because it’s like teaching yoga to my family. It is so beautiful watching everyone grow and transition.  I’m so grateful to be a part of the tribe! 

LUKE HERDEGEN - Weightlifting Teacher


I have always loved almost any physical activity I could get involved in since I was a kid. I started my functional movement journey in 2011 when I started, participating, competing and coaching crossfit and Olympic weightlifting. I have trained with and learnt from high level Olympic weightlifters from all over the world and will continue to do so.

 I am extremely passionate about functional fitness as a whole and the role that Olympic weightlifting can play in this.

CHRIS CAMERON - Physio + Movement Teacher


Chris has a passion for learning and teaching all things movement related. While he played various types of sports growing up, he found Olympic weightlifting, handbalancing, and athletics later on as a self-taught adult. Because of this he has a keen understanding for how to develop movement abilities from scratch, often in people with no movement background.

If you want to build more skills to play with, Chris can help break things down and get you going in the right direction!
