Class description:

THE MOVEMENT COLLECTIVE WAS CREATED by ROD COOPER, A NEWCASTLE LOCAL WHO HAS dedicated years to DEVELOPING HIS PRACTICE AND KNOWLEDGE OF MOVEMENT. Rod has LEARNt from THE BEST MOVERS AND TEACHERS IN THE WORLD, and WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL to IDO PORTAL AND HIS TEAM.

TMC is A FACILITY that allows people to PRACTICE AND LEARN MORE WHAT THEY and their bodies ARE CAPABLE OF. Besides THE FANCY TRICKS YOU SEE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, OUR PRACTICE  focuses on a holistic and complete movement practice. A massive part of this practice is play, and TMC students never take themselves too seriously; after all, why move if you can’t have fun?

OUR MOVEMENT practice IS INSPIRED BY GYMNASTICS, DANCE, MARTIAL ARTS, STRENGTH, CONDITIONING & CALISTHENICS. We predominantly use body weight movements, although we do throw weighted exercise into the mix as well.

 

Lay the Foundation Program   

LAY THE FOUNDATION PROGRAM iS A PRE-REQUISITE TO THE MOVEMENT CLASSES. It INCLUDES A 60 MINute SESSION WITH ONE OF OUR TEACHERS TO RUN MOVEMENT, MOBILITY AND STRENGTH TESTS. We ALSO ASSIST YOU WITH SETTING SOME SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS. THE PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES 2 WEEKS OF FOUNDATION CLASSES, giving YOU THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO MOVE INTO THE MOVEMENT CLASSES.

 

Foundation class

Foundation classes are  DESIGNED TO EXPOSE MEMBERS TO THE art OF MOVEMENT, creating A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THIS PRACTICE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR BODIES.

Foundation classes teach BASIC MOVEMENT PATTERNS, DRILLS AND TERMINOLOGY,  BUILDING THE CONFIDENCE AND SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED TO LAY A SOLID FOUNDATION for YOUR MOVEMENT PRACTICE. These classes are for all levels; YOU CAN’T PRACTICE THE BASICS ENOUGH.

Movement class

Movement classes expose students TO A VARIeTY OF dynamic MOVEMENTS,  BUILDing STRENGTH, BALANCE, MOBILITY, FLEXIBILITY, SPEED, POWER, BODY CONTROL AND AWARENESS.

Movement classes incorporate methods inspired by GYMNASTICS, CALISTHENICS, DANCE, MARTIAL ARTS, BODY WEIGHT STRENGTH AND CONDITIONINg. These classes are designed to show you what YOUR BODY IS TruLY CAPABLE OF.

Rod is constantly researching and innovating through his own movement practice, and regularly shares his own learnings and progress.
